Three hand-operated locks on the Rideau Canal in continuous operation since 1832. Combined lift 7.4 metres. Lock 23 features the 1933 swing bridge. Part of the Rideau Canal UNESCO World Heritage Site. The windlass hand-crank mechanism used to open the lock gates manually is unchanged since construction.
